1. Accessibility
With the number of children with learning difficulties estimated at around 38 million, We are in need of almost 8 million ‘competent’ remedial tutors, assuming a teacher:student ratio of 1:5, which is practically not viable, at least in the near future. Moreover, qualified tutors are mostly concentrated in cities in variance with the target group which is widespread all over the country. With the advancement of technology breaking barriers in terms of place and connectivity, TRIKA chooses to leverage the same for remedial interventions, which can be accessed anywhere and anytime. This abolishes the limitation of space and accessibility and also offers a standardized package with modules catering to diverse learners with no deviation or compromisation terms of quality.
2. Accommodation of Diverse Learning styles (VAKT)
Right from VAKT techniques to Virtual Learning Environment, 3R app follows a thoroughly researched curriculum with diverse techniques/methodologies in instructing strategies and concepts, which would appeal to every dominant learning style in children. By activating multiple sensory systems (Vision, touch and audition) of diverse learners, the ability to conceive and retain concepts increase remarkably, thereby contributing to the inculcation of independent learning.
3. Flexibility
The needs of diverse learners are not confined to just well defined remedial solutions, but also in terms of flexibility in learning pace. This is a major drawback faced in a mainstream classroom, which is neutralized by 3R app, where children have the freedom of pace, place and time. These children are found to be more enthusiastic and committed learners in the absence of stringent regulations with regards to space, time and coverage. They have the luxury of having their current level as the starting point to graduate to their age appropriate level at a comfortable pace.
4. Accurate Assessment and Reporting system
3R app comes with inbuilt assessing and reporting features which are accurate and self explanatory, for easy interpretation and intervention. Daily and weekly reports are generated, keeping the parents well informed of the progress made by the child. There is an exclusive activity interface which gathers and stores data of all the activities undertaken by the child in the app, that can be accessed anytime. The app will also generate comprehensive reports over a period of time, which summarizes the strengths and the areas of improvement for extensive understanding of the child’s learning capacity and progress.
5. Core skills development
3R app, though diverse in terms of approach, has its objectives strongly rooted to the development of core skills like reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension for children with learning difficulties, which would extensively contribute in moulding them into independent learners in the long term.
Apart from virtual learning and exploration through VAKT kit, we provide ample materials in the form of worksheets and booklets, which focus primarily on reinforcing the concepts and strategies learnt for practical use.
6. Parental Involvement
Parental role in a child’s development is undeniably essential which forms the very basis of the idea of 3R app. With the inadequacy of competent tutors highlighted from time to time, 3R app resorts to empower parents through exclusive tutorials created by experts, who have 20+ years of experience in remedial intervention.
Through these tutorials, parents are expertly advised and guided on how to assist their children, monitor and interpret their progress. Thereby parents are capacitated, to empower their children, as well as themselves by opening them up to different perspectives of their children’s skills and capabilities, which ultimately contributes to better parenting. This also weeds out uncertainties in terms of the child’s well-being and progress, leaving behind just an ambience of secured and joyful learning.
7. Ideal for Children with Borderline Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Children with borderline Autism and ADHD are known to have very less attention span. Their condition demands individual attention, highly strategized and innovative methods of intervention, to train them on core skills. Interactive virtual learning modules and multi sensory methodologies are highly instrumental in retaining and improving their attention span. Moreover, under the guidance of experts through tutorials, parents can turn enablers for these children and give them the necessary attention for developing their core skills
1. Inclusive Intervention within School premises
To promote inclusive education for children with learning disabilities, 3R lab is set up within the school premises and students attend 3 classes per week during their english hours, which reduces the necessity for an external intervention that consume additional hours. With a refreshing outlook and effective strategies focussed on developing the core skills, 3R lab creates a very interactive and comforting atmosphere where children get to learn, interact and question without inhibitions. Two qualified and competent enablers are placed in every 3R lab to offer quality remedial intervention. This also allows children with learning difficulties to enjoy the benefits of a mainstream set up with their peers as well as get the essential remedial intervention from an exclusive remedial set up. This exterminates the stigma offering a very subtle yet effective solution without deviation from the mainstream set up.
2. Scope for interaction
Children with learning difficulties tend to develop reclusive or socially awkward behaviour and have inhibitions to interact freely or ask questions to get their doubts clarified in a mainstream classroom. This behaviour is rooted to fear and lack of confidence due to consistent underperformance in academics and non-acceptance by peers. In 3R lab, we take conscious efforts to create an atmosphere with a non-threatening and non-judgemental approach, wherein children can interact with the enablers without reluctance or fear of being criticized harshly. Children are encouraged to learn through active interaction.
3. Researched curriculum and strategized modules
Children with learning difficulties benefit very little from conventional methods of teaching due to variance in perceiving, processing and interpreting information. Hence 3R lab follows methodologies conceived exclusively for children with learning disabilities, which have been compiled and systematized by a faculty that can boast of 20+ years of experience in special education. With a well defined curriculum in place, the enablers focus on strengthening the foundation of their core skills – reading, writing, spelling, and comprehending thereby gradually making them independent learners.
4. Competent Remedial Tutors/Enablers
Every 3R lab has two qualified and competent remedial tutors called ‘Enablers’ who have been handpicked for tutoring children with learning difficulties. These enablers are exclusively trained on academic and interpersonal skills required to handle, tutor and nurture these children. With an ideal faculty:student ratio of 1:3, the enablers bear the responsibility of giving the children a rich learning experience through compassionate tutoring and interaction to stay true to the motto of 3R lab.
5. Parents Circle
Parents circle is a peer parent networking forum organized by experts to enhance knowledge on simple yet powerful techniques to support and encourage in nurturing the potential of the child. Sessions are conducted every month, exclusively for the parents of children attending the 3R lab for them to discuss, question and analyze different aspects of parenting and child development. This helps them open up to different perspectives of their Children’s skills, potential and holistic development.
